Our newly elected President Lynne Neuman opened our July 7th meeting at 12:15 pm and had a very warm reception as our elected President.
James Hartman led us through a very welcoming Invocation.
Judy Maruscko presented the Pledge of Allegiance.
The Patriotic song was lead by Juan Bueno.
Kathleen Anderson was pleased to introduce our guests, but only could find ONE, Venessa Jiminez, who was Allen Bond’s guest.
Julia Parton announced that Allen Bond was named Rotary Member of the Year.
UPCOMING EVENTS
1) On 7/18/17, the Rotary District Breakfast will be held at the Crowne Plaza LAX Hotel with a focus on “End Polio Now”. The keynote speaker is Playa Venice Rotarian Rob DeCou, who will share details of his challenging run to End Polio Now. Titled “Rob’s Run”, DeCou will run from Death Valley to the Portal of Mt. Whitney in a two-day period in August.
2) This year’s District Picnic will be an evening Beach Party on Saturday, August 26th from 5-9:00 pm at the Seaside Lagoon in Redondo Beach. Complete information is on the Rotary website.
Lynne Neuman suggested the following goals for the New Fiscal Year:
1) Update the Facebook page.
2) Increase the membership.
3) Do lots of Projects locally throughout the year and at least one International Project.
Marc Mazorow indicated the club will receive between $ 10,000 and $ 25,000 from the fundraising event, the Wine and Beer Festival.
Virginia Butler suggested that we invite the press to provide publicity when a donation with a defined suggested reason is made, for instance, to the Boys and Girls Club in San Pedro.
Rick Mendoza presented a photograph of Greg to our past District Governor Greg O’Brien, in recognition of his positive attitude and ever present smile.
Our raffle winners were Jennifer Sullivan and Nikakhtar Nehzat.
