Today’s guest included Dr. Brent Kuykendall, PV Peninsula High School principal, Michelle Seaton, mother of Katie Seaton (president of the PVPHS Interact Club).
Peninsula High Interact Club!
Our speakers were from the newly formed Interact Club at Peninsula High School. Interact Club President, Katie Seaton and Interact Club Vice President, Lauren Kim were introduced by their faculty advisor, AP physics teacher, Mike Spalding. Mike is the son of one of the club’s founding members, Dr. John Spaulding. Katie and Lauren outlined the impressive list of activities and their plans for the coming year – too many projects to mention! Through club rush this week, the Interact Club had more than 100 students sign up to be part of this new and exciting club! Katie and Lauren are ready for the coming year.
The speeches were most impressive, listing their many volunteer activities and interests in our community. The future looks very bright in their hands. The applause showed our appreciation.
Legislative Forum: Joint Annual Meeting with PVP Chamber of Commerce
Our October 11th meeting will once again be held in conjunction with the Palos Verdes Peninsula Chamber of Commerce’s Annual Legislative Forum. All four prominent elected officials who represent the Peninsula at the county, state and federal levels will attend. Congressman Ted Lieu, Senator Ben Allen, Assembly member Al Muratsuchi and Los Angeles County Supervisor Janice Hahn will each speak about legislative and policy issues and priorities, with time for audience questions.
Important logistical issues for this meeting:
Rotary members do not need to buy a ticket. However, we need to have an accurate count of our members who plan to attend. A clipboard will be passed at the next two Rotary meetings.
ALL Rotary guests or spouses must purchase a ticket in advance, but can be seated with Rotarians of course. Tickets are $55 and may be purchased through the Chamber’s website palosverdeschamber.com, OR by phone 310.377.8111, OR you may turn in a check payable to the PVP Chamber at our Rotary meeting this week or next.
The cutoff date for Rotarian RSVP’s and ticket purchases for your guests is Tuesday, October 8. This event has sold out in the past and last-minute guests may not be able to be accommodated. Please plan accordingly to avoid disappointment.
