image002More than seven surgeries; 125 pairs of reading glasses and two wheelchairs handed out – both changing the lives of the patient and their families forever; little Maria returned for a follow up visit (see photo); patient’s paperwork application completed for shriners; not to mention: six boxes of dental equipment arrived for all clinics, thanks to Carlos Ruiz; an Ambulance and Ophthalmic lasers donated by Rotary in Manhattan and Rotary of ciudad Obregon; more than 200 patients seen by our doctors.

Rotary Manhattan and Rotary Obregon – Muchisimas Gracias !

I know that everyone worked very hard. The OR was open until past mid-night. Yet, please don’t burn yourselves out!. We must take care of each other too. If we’re not healthy we can give 100% to our patients.

image004I did talk with several of you this past week and appreciate all of you for your time and feedback on the clinic(s). Some of you have great ideas on how to improve the clinic and for that I appreciate and value each and every idea you have; in my opinion constructive criticism is needed to make sure we move forward with our mission; maintaining quality of service to our staff and patients. One area where we need the most improvement is in the triage of patients. We have made some changes that will be implemented at the May clinic. If any of you would like to be part of triage please let me know. In much need is an RN to oversee the triage at El Fuerte.

Last, but not least a special thanks to Andrea Rubio-Inzunza for coordinating the April El Fuerte clinic. She along with her husband, live in Tijuana and not only help at our El Fuerte clinic but also help at the Liga TJ clinic that Jacki Hanson runs – GRACIAS !
