Sandy Adams, Rear Admiral USN (Ret)
Admiral Adams will discuss her career in the USN and lessons learned
  • Sandy will likely discuss a combination of the following two talks she's done in the past.

  • Call to Serve: my personal story which includes what it was like to be one of the early women to serve officially at sea and key growth and mentoring support that eventually led to my being able to serve as an Admiral.  I prepared this for a women’s leadership conference in Pasadena with 900 women.  It was awesome.  While the talk was developed for a 25-45 year old audience, the insights might be helpful for others to see how they can influence and retain women/minorities in STEM since we/they are under-represented.  I could work in that angle.
  • Pride: history of gays in the military (June).  I was just asked to develop and give this speech to the Army at Ft Irwin last month.  I weave my personal story into historical perspective and progress that is valuable for today’s military leaders.  Got a standing ovation!
