Hybrid meetings...

First, I hope everyone had a merry Christmas with some fun and laughter. Christmas preparations and celebrations have helped make this message a little later than the usual RoteNotes.

Our meeting on Thursday, December 22^nd featured a dynamic duo, followed by the terrific trio, and finally became the fearless foursome. With Anthony and Brendan away, no-one hooked up the computer so we don’t know if anyone tried to join by zoom. I received no email messages to that effect. Allan, Rudy, Wayne and Stephen (regrets from Anthony and Bob) carried out the meeting and the election of officers for 2022-23. When Rudy, as incoming president, discovered that he could have an elected Sergeant-at-Arms, he chose that option, thereby increasing our executive to thirteen for his year. So, we had the third call for nominations for the previously mentioned positions, and the first, second and third calls for the position of SAA. It was an unusual election, but fun.

Elected to lead our club in 2022-23 are the following brave individuals.

Other updates

We had pleasant conversation and Allan advised us that the cabinets are now in the RIC and the countertop has been measured and ordered, and he hopes it will be here within two weeks. He has an interesting story about a cut, gluing, and a perfect fit. He impressed others with the accuracy of his planning, which involved two six-foot levels and two four-foot ones. Good enough isn’t good enough to Allan: it has to be perfect.

Bob sent his best wishes to club members as he recuperates from surgery. We talked about TRF giving and how to do it. Rudy would like someone to accompany him to attend the Grants Management Workshop at KPU in Surrey on February 4, 2023. This is a great opportunity to learn about district grants and global grants and help enable our club to get one.

We moved on to happy and sad dollars, with all four attendees contributing this week. A higher than usual amount, $45, was pledged for: the cabinets being installed and installed well; Wayne’s 78^th birthday arriving on Christmas Day; happy for Wayne’s birthday, for Allan’s cabinets, and for Stephen’s presence despite not feeling well; and another for Wayne’s birthday.

We closed with our toast to Canada and wished each other a Merry Christmas! There will be no meeting next week on the 29th. We will be back at Timms for our first meeting of 2023 on January 5^th. As no photos were taken at the meeting, I will share a couple from the Wiebe household for your viewing pleasure. Happy New Year!
