The print-out of a proposed Amendment to the By Laws, which was announced by email, was waiting on the tables.   Main change is to add “electronic” means of communication to phone and snail mail.  Proposal was moved, seconded and passed by the Club.

Debbie Fox reminded us of the Foundation Gala Dinner in Union Station in November, “The Rotary Express.”  It’ll be a fun evening, taking up Governor Joe Vasquez’s hobby of model trains.  Tickets for the Opportunity Drawings were on our table, waiting for us to take and buy or to sell. One ticket, $10; 12 tickets, $100, and you could win up to $3,000 cash.

Rich Strayer encouraged folks to sign up for the Guatemala Literacy Project study tour to that beautiful country in February 2019.   The GLP is our major International endeavor, and part of our Literacy Program.

Raul Lopez reminded us that a good way to support the Club’s Golf Tournament November 2nd is by buying a beautifully personalized Tee sign, placed on the course with your name and logo, for $150.  There are also sponsorship opportunities, from Bronze at $1,000 up to Gold Sponsor at $2,000.  See Raul.

Barbara Lamberth, our new Treasurer, pointed out that up-to-the-minute
statements of your account had been personally delivered during lunch.

Our 101 year old marvel, Mary Stauffer, was called upon, and Greg announced that the Club had voted to make her an honorary Life Member.  The club gave Mary a standing O, and while she was stood and gave her thank-you speech, holding her bouquet, everyone remained standing.  Mary said being a Rotarian has been a “precious experience.”

RAFFLE   Mel Sanchez, one of our newest members, had two consecutive  numbers called but it didn’t bring her any joy at drawing the elusive marble. Ray Andazola got only $5 for his ticket.

FINE MASTER Larry Garces asked Mel to stand, and explain her luck at getting two chances.  Larry proceeded to recognize Pam Powell, trying to spread the recognition. He also called on Nate Mahoney and Jesse Vargas.

Fine Master then asked Doug Baker to rise, and Doug immediately referred the limelight to Jaimee Sul Baker, who tried several tricks to ward off the fine, including the hex sign on the evil eye from the movie Dracula, but nothing could save her. When Patricia Megallon was asked to stand, one had to wonder who had the highest most spikey heels in the room, Patricia or Pam.

Diane Davis was back with us, and she flashed the peace sign.  Jorge Montero was fined for all his Letters to the Editor in the Patriot.

PROGRAM was craft talks from our three newest members,  State Farm Insurance agent Mel Sanchez; self-professed rock concert goer and Edward Jones financial planner, Ryan Keene and Pastor Alex from Desert Reign Church.  Welcome to the club, and we’ll get your remarks in a later edition of the Bub.
