The Rotary Club of Los Angeles honors Razia Jan as the 2024 Woman of the Year for her outstanding humanitarian efforts, including founding Razia's Ray of Hope Foundation, which provides education for girls in Afghanistan despite cultural barriers. Razia has received numerous awards and recognition for her work, including the CNN Top 10 Heroes award and mention in First Lady Laura Bush's book "We Are Afghan Women." Jason Butler Harner will introduce Razia at the event. Also attending are Mia Barron, an acclaimed actress, and Vera Jimenez, an award-winning meteorologist from KTLA5.
LA5’s 4-year college scholarship committee is seeking Rotarians to help read, score, conduct remote interviews of applicants, and pick 20 winners! Our committee works in teams of 3-4 Rotarians who are given online access to a handful of applications to review and score. Finalists are then interviewed by those teams and winners are selected. It is deeply meaningful and inspiring to get to know our applicants before interviewing them. It is also a great opportunity to work with fellow Rotarians. We have deadlines but most of the work can be done at your own pace at home. Please join us!
