Kate is a multi-faceted producer, writer, and transmedia consultant passionate about storytelling, creativity, innovation, consciousness, media and the arts and their effect on culture and society. She serves on the National Board of the Producers Guild of America, the PGA New Media Council, and she is a member of the TV Academy.Kate’s had experience working alongside some of the top creative talent in the world in the creative arts and entertainment industries for over 30 years, 20 of which were spent at NBC Universal Studios and Paramount Studios. Her diverse experience has given her the ability to approach projects from a unique perspective which optimizes the full value of a storyworld and or intellectual property.
Ed Lantz is our speaker for CEO, Vortex Immersion. Ed Lantz is an immersive media entrepreneur, engineer, producer and experience designer. Ed left aerospace engineering in 1990 to transform traditional planetariums into immersive visualization environments, designing over a dozen digital dome theaters worldwide including Egypt’s Library of Alexandria Planetarium, Domodigital at Papalote Museo del Niño in Mexico City, and the National Space Centre in Leicester, UK. His company Vortex Immersion develops immersive media venues and experiences, both real and virtual, and seeks to develop a network of immersive entertainment complexes. Ed sees modern digital domes as “digital temples of transformation” for their ability to deliver compelling immersive journeys, live performances and art experiences with positive impact while serving as local creative placemaking centers.
LA5 Helps County Create Online Tool to Help Young People in Foster Care
With funding support from the Office of Child Protection and the Rotary Club of Los Angeles, and in partnership with Alliance for Children’s Rights, the Los Angeles County Department of Children and Family Services (DCFS) has launched an online tool to provide a customized informative report on resources for youth ages 14–26 who are currently or formerly in foster care and on probation and their caregivers, helping them access critical supports and services they need to thrive. The online tool, accessible at on the DCFS website, allows users to filter eligibility results based on age and on education and employment status.
