Angel City Celebration

Be an Angel: Bring Laughter and Joy
To Our Neighbors in South LA

Rotary Club of Los Angeles and Rotary District 5280 are working together with LA County Parks & Recreation, local churches, businesses and community volunteer groups to organize a holiday event for the 4,000 underserved young children and their families in South LA.  We are planning a pancake breakfast, fun activities, health fair, resource fair, book fair and toys, books & clothing giveaway.  Rotarians and volunteers are encouraged to come with family and friends on Saturday, December 12 to help; I sincerely hope you are able to share the holiday spirit in this most rewarding way.  Volunteers need to register in advance.

Date, Time and What to do

Saturday, December 12 from 6:30 am to 4 pm in two shifts

  • Jobs include prepare & serve 2,500 pancake breakfasts, help at the Resource, Health & Book fairs, Stage the giveaways and be a personal shopper for the kids.  Safeguard the children and monitor the waiting line and helping other event-related tasks. 

Volunteer Registration, Orientation and assignment on Saturday

  • 1st shift volunteers check in at Volunteer Registration - 6:30am
  • Coffee, juice and pastries will be available at the volunteer registration area
  • Orientation & Assignment – 6:50am
  • Last minute set up and get ready – 7:30am
  • 2nd shift volunteers check in, orientation and assignment 11:00am

Celebration starts 7:30 am

  • Please stay in your assigned area until release by the 2nd shift volunteer or end of the event

Post Event Clean-Up from 3:30pm to 4 pm

  • Clear the area of empty boxes, trash
  • Fold tables & Chairs and move to designated area

Attire

  • Jeans, tee shirt and comfortable athletic shoes
  • Please note there is no storage for personal belongings
  • Wear your company, organization or “Angel City” tee shirt
  • “Angel City” tee shirts will be distributed to Rotarians and their guests
