PRESIDENT’S MESSAGE 2021-2022

Rotary International President Shekhar Mehta, in his introduction of this year’s theme “Serve to Change Lives” tells us “You see things and you say why.  But I dream of things that never were and I say why not?"  The Rotary Club of Chilliwack is making big dreams come true, improving the lives of people both in our community and abroad– with 10 school libraries and teacher training in Peru; improved water and sanitation in 12 schools in Ethiopia; and Hippo Rollers in South Africa that will change the lives of women and children, giving families access to better hygiene, sanitation and living conditions, and the ability to grow their own vegetable gardens.  Locally we have supported improvements to food security through our financial and service contributions to school breakfast programs, food hampers, an integrated Food Hub, and supported students in the pursuit of leadership opportunities and scholarships for post- secondary education.  Service has brought many of us together and sustained us through challenging times and I am excited about what new opportunities we will uncover in the coming year as we move to implement our Strategic Plan, supporting a strong and connected membership, and serving to change lives - our lives - and the lives of others - in Chilliwack and in the world.
