Immediate Past President Bev Dornan was one of three women to be recognized at the International Women's Day, Women of Distinction event organized by the Langley Central Rotary Club.

On Saturday March 4th, Aldergrove Rotary Club Past President Bev Dornan was recognized for her many years of dedication to others and to her community.  One of three women to be honoured at the annual International Women's Day event organized by the Langley Central Rotary Club, Bev was recognized for making a difference in Aldergrove over the years, having previously served on a number of boards and committees including the Aldergrove Festival Days Society, Langley Chamber of Commerce, Board of British Columbia Chamber of Commerce, Langley Hospital Foundation and for chairing the organizing committee for the Relay for Life.  Bev also served two terms on the District of Langley Township Council.  Other notable women recognized for their volunteer contributions to the District of Langley were Shirley Stewart and Alice Johnson.
 
Keynote speaker at the event was Dean Rohrs, in-coming Rotary International Vice President for 2017-18, who spoke on the life-changing effect that courage has played for women of all ages and nationalities around the world. Carol Tichelman updated the gathering with information on the wonderful success of Polio Plus, one of Rotary International's life-saving initiatives.
 
Proceeds from the International Women's Day event went to the Langley Food Bank Resource Centre and to the Nepal Water and Sanitation Project.
