Blueberry Fest 2019

First City Rotary participated in the 44th Annual Blueberry Arts Festival this year. Rotarian Marna Cessnun created the concept of a booth to support the Purple Pinkie Project -- a fundraiser for Polio Plus disease eradication. Members Pat Tully, Scott Brainard, Lois Munch, and Mary Kowalczyk raised almost $500 in one sitting.
The Kayhi Interact Club had a booth next to ours, selling fabric goods on behalf of TAFCOM, and raised over $1,000 to build a schoolhouse roof in Tanzania!
Throughout the day, many community members, Rotarians visiting Ketchikan on cruise ships, and friends came by the booth to enjoy Marna's baked goods and donate to the fundraiser. Carl Tinsman and his brother, visiting Alaska on a cruise ship, stopped by in the afternoon. Carl is a member of the Rotary Club of Boulder, CO -- and worked for the UN, UNICEF and other organizations for over 30 years in support of polio eradication and disease prevention. First City Rotary was honored to have them in Ketchikan for the day!

First City Rotary Welcomes you!

First City Rotary - Meets Thursday mornings at 7 a.m. at the Cape Fox Lodge

You are welcome to visit us in Ketchikan, Alaska!

First City Rotary was established in 1988, in Rotary District 5010. We have a signature event, the "Annual Duck Race" which raises over $33,000 to support youth education and enrichment activities, college and vocational scholarships, local community service projects, and more. In 2019-2020, our projects will focus on improving life for elderly residents at the Pioneer Home and preschool children. Our club supports the Rotary Foundation and Polio Plus disease eradication. Together, we do great things.

We are a fun, friendly breakfast club that enjoys fellowship activities and doing good in the world.  We look forward to meeting you!

Jim Dahl, a First City Rotarian, has a passion for the Rotary Foundation and Polio Eradication.  He already has raised $20,000+ dollars for the Foundation in SE Alaska and British Columbia and is heading out again, this time going North to Alaska and Yukon Territories presenting to clubs and encouraging clubs to donate to the Foundation. Even non-Rotarians are donating!   Our club donated $1000 + to his RFAR ride so far!  He says, "RFAR is coming to mind.. the ride schedule is shaping up to the last two week of July and all of August. We have a Duck Race to run!"  GOOD LUCK OUR FOUNDATION MAN!!!
