New Generations Activities
Youth Programs/Activities
First City Rotary actively participates in and supports Rotary's youth programs, collectively referred to as "New Generations".
Youth Exchange Programs
We send one local student out and host one or two foreign exchange students each year. Students are called "Outbounds" (local students heading out on exchange), "Inbounds" (foreign students coming to Ketchikan), and "Rebounds" (local students returning after their exchange year).
Local students have gone to countries as diverse as Thailand, India, Brazil, Mexico, and Ecuador and elsewhere. We have hosted students from Brazil, Taiwan, Poland, Germany, and many other countries.
There are several ways to be involved - perhaps your child dreams of going on exchange? Or maybe your family would be interested in being a host family and welcoming a student into your home?

Rotary Interact of Kayhi
Interact Clubs are service clubs for youth ages 12-18. First City Rotary hosts the Kayhi Interact Club, which meets at the school during lunch. The club is student run, with a student Board of Directors elected each year.
Projects include a booth at Salmon Landing's Haunted Halloween Town; the Annual Pie Action at the Pioneer Home just before Thanksgiving; school and art supply drives; Valentine's cards and Christmas baskets for the elderly and shut-ins; Easter Baskets for children at WISH, the local domestic violence shelter; and support for TAFCOM, an African organization that seeks to eradicate poverty through education of women and children.
The club's mission is to look beyond the school walls to serve our community, both local and global.
