On March 6th two Rotary Bowling teams engaged in a friendly competition in support of the Big Brothers/Big Sisters annual Bowl for Bucks fundraiser.

The perennial "Keglers" team headed by Scott Fischer included Rotarians Brenda Hewitt, Cliff Stone and Scott.  Rounding out their team were Tom Henderson (Brenda's spouse), Betsy Fischer (Scott's spouse) and Rynnieva Moss (legislative staffer) along with Scott and Betsy's "littles" with the BB/BS program.

The Rotary Youth Exchange team, "Show Me Your Flag" included inbound exchange students Dominika Orosz (Gastineau Club from Hungary), Alejandro Canaan (Glacier Valley Club from Mexico), Florence Nickles (Juneau Club from Switzerland), Warren Eckland (son of YEO Doug Eckland) and Youth Exchange Officers Virginia Stonkus (Juneau Club and coach), Doug Eckland (Gastineau Club and coach) and Sally Saddler (District Inbound Coordinator).

The Keglers won the friendly competition as both teams raised over $1200 for BB/BS. Alejandro was the single largest fund-raiser at our bowling session gathering pledges of $476 for which he received a gift certificate to Bullwinkle's Pizza Parlour for his efforts!  Way to go Alejandro (you never did win a prize for cleaning up any of your split pins!)

A good time was had by all and funds were raised to support Juneau's BB/BS mentoring program to help youth in our community build strong community connections with a mentor.

Thanks to Betsy, Cliff and Scott for taking time from their busy lives to me "bigs"!

And thanks to all Rotarians who helped the cause by pledging bowlers!

Hey, Scott and Cliff:  what's up with having those bowling balls on top of your heads...does that help with your uncanny bowling prowess?!
