We finished up this quarter with a Club Assembly.  Typically, the agenda for those meetings have been fairly loose, well, this time, I think the key items on the list were Awards, Laughs, Announcements, more Laughs.

First off, it was great to have Victoria and Drew with us.  Welcome and hope to see you at future meetings.

The turn out for the meeting was so good, I thought our Treasurer and Secretary were going to go hungry, but Johann's came through with extra sandwiches for them.   A great problem to have, let's keep the attendance up and keep bringing guests.

Please see another posting to read about the Vocational Service Award.  It's about time we got that going.  This will now be an annual award given during Vocational Service Month (Oct).  Start thinking about who you'd like to see get the next award.

We had some fun with this week's Alaska Star articles about our Literacy Program in Mexico and the Middle School competition to raise funds to support Project Amigo.  Thanks Meg for being a good sport and paying your fine.

A huge thanks to Brad B for coming up with a great IDIDADUCK prize.  How's a $500 gas card sound?  Way to go Brad.

As we went through the announcements, its clear we get real busy in the spring:

  • Brad has arranged dates for Choices,
  • Martha is coordinating dates for the Mock Interviews,
  • MaryAnn will have one more round of Student lunches,
  • Doug and Tonya are coordinating both Road and Nature Center clean ups.
  • Al has the Scholarship paperwork moving and will need people to review the application packets in mid April.
  • And don't forget our Flume Committee will be busy figuring out how to float our ducks down Eagle River Loop.

The scholarship discussion grew into an overall discussion of our financial situation.  We're doing quite well right now thanks to all the great efforts supporting IDIDADUCK and some good stewardship from the Board.  We decided not to take any action right now, but we encourage all to join in the discussion when we develop next year's budget some time in June.

It was also an honor to recognize Brad and Tonya Gamble as they are now Major Donors and were awarded distinctive pins and a very nice personalized crystal award.  If you're interested in finding out more about this, just ask Brad. Gambels-Humanitarian Recog
