Club member Rick Harrell created Heroes’ Voices in 2013 to provide veterans with the healing power of music. Heroes’ Voices has served thousands of veterans in Northern California and across the country. Working with veterans may seem like an unusual choice for Rick, who has enjoyed a life-long career in classical music. By way of explanation, Rick will share the story of his varied career in story and song in a special performance that celebrates the tenth anniversary of service provided by Heroes' Voices.

On Sunday afternoon, March 26, 2023, Rick will perform a cabaret-style concert featuring important musical moments in his career, from student days to the stages of the Kennedy Center in Washington, Lincoln Center in New York, La Scala Milan, and recordings with Leonard Bernstein. He will also share a wide range of traditional and folk music, a vital part of Rick’s musical life that has provided a powerful connection with veterans. Rick will also premiere a few recent folk compositions of his own. The performance will feature veteran musicians and poets whose lives had been touched by Heroes’ Voices, as well as Heroes’ Voices guitar teacher Larry Chung, and pianist Jefferson Packer.

Come join us on March 26 at 2 PM in the Chapel of Calvary Presbyterian Church at Fillmore and Jackson Streets in San Francisco.
