Steven Swain is the Environmental Horticulture Advisor for Marin and Sonoma counties, where his work is primarily focused on integrated pest management, plant pathology, and resource conservation. He has a research background in sudden oak death, a commercial background in arboriculture, and has taught integrated pest management and related topics for the College of Marin and Santa Rosa Junior College.

Steven has a Master of Science in Environmental Horticulture from the University of California at Davis. He is a frequent peer reviewer of articles on plant disease and pest management and co-authored a research article entitled, “Phytophthora ramorum can survive introduction into finished compost”.

Steven will speak today about tree planting in conjunction with the Rotary International initiative to plant a tree for every Rotarian by Earth Day 2018. Steve’s expertise will assist in addressing the optimum conditions for planting in California.

This is a weekly membership meeting for The Rotary Club of San Francisco, open to all Rotarians, visiting Rotarians, prospective members and guests.
