Oct 2018 GG1977580 for High School Classrooms in Kalala, Ethiopia. RCO contributed DDF $10,007 to Rotary Club of College Park, the International Partner. Total amount of the grant including match from The Rotary Foundation (TRF) was $91,978.
Oct 2018 GG1864070 for Cleft palate surgeries and supplies in Merida, Mexico. RCO contributed DDF $10,000 to Rotary Club of Winter Park, the International Partner. Total amount of the grant including match from The Rotary Foundation (TRF) was $41,865.
May 2015 GG1528500, was supported by RCO to provide a pediatric interventional cardiac catheterization team with the necessary supplies and devices to perform non-invasive, lifesaving procedures on 200 children annually with congenital heath defect (CHD) in El Salvador and training of necessary medical personnel to continue these procedures. The grant idea came our participation in previous Gift of Life projects. Host Club was San Salvador RC and the International Club was RC of Bainbridge Island. RCO contributed DDF $1,500. Total amount of the grant including match from The Rotary Foundation (TRF) was $160,000.
December 2013 Grant GG1418909, was supported by RCO to provide cleft palate equipment, supplies, training and care in Mexico for over 100 children in Chetumal and Merida, Mexico. This grant came from previous contact and cooperation with the Winter Park RC and SHARES at Florida Hospital. Host Club was Chetumal, Mexico D4195 International Partner was The Villages Rotary Club. RCO contributed CASH $100 and DDF $2,000. Total amount of the grant including match from The Rotary Foundation (TRF) was $160,000.
Beginning in July 2013, The Rotary Foundation changed the granting process giving more authority to the district, changing the process and renaming Matching Grant(MG)to Global Grant (GG).
November 2012 Matching Grant, MG77741, was submitted by Jon Stine as International Partner to provide medical supplies and equipment for cleft palate surgeries in Tarapoto, Peru. Over 125 children will benefit from this grant and will be able to live more productive and happier lives. This grant came from the close cooperation with the Winter Park RC and SHARES at Florida Hospital. Host Club was Tarapoto, Peru, D-4465. RCO contributed CASH $100 and DDF $2,500. Total amount of the grant including match from The Rotary Foundation (TRF) was $11,644.
October 2012 Matching Grant, MG77730, was supported by RCO to provide a new water tank and distribution lines for St. Lucia. This project will serve over 3,000 people with potable water in the mountains of St. Lucia, West Indies. D7030, St. Lucia was the Host Club/District and D6960, Florida, was the International Partner. Project was spearheaded by Stephen Schlueter, DG D6960. The grant came from the friendship formed from MG75859 in Jamaica. RCO contributed DDF $1,000. Total amount of the grant including match from The Rotary Foundation (TRF) was $305,299.
November 2011 Matching Grant, MG75946, was submitted by Jon Stine as International Partner to upgrade 6 classrooms in Grades 4-6 at the Dontogan Elementary School by the purchase of chairs, computers, printers, laboratory equipment/supplies and home economics equipment/supplies and (2) a provide water purification system (reverse osmosis filtration system) for a free source of potable water. This grant came from our involvement with Baguio Sunrise RC, Philippines solar oven grant at Pacday Elementary School. The school project will be serving 800 students and 150 households in the barangay Dontogan. Host Club was Baguio Sunrise, Philippines, D-3790. RCO contributed CASH $1,000 and DDF $6,375. Total amount of the grant including match from The Rotary Foundation (TRF) was $20,500.
October 2011 Matching Grant, MG75859, was submitted by Jon Stine as International Partner to provide a blood gas analyzer to Bustamante Hospital for Children in Kingston, Jamaica, West Indies. Project resulted from a Thursday program by Ron Raylman, Executive Director of Gift of Life International. Hundreds of young children with Congential Heart Disease (CHD) in the Caribbean Basin will receive treatment to extend their lives into adulthood through this grant. Host Club was Rotary Club of Downtown Kingston, Jamaica. A total of 13 Rotary clubs participated in this grant. Steve Schlueter, DGE D6960 and his wife, Pam, were instrumental in the successful completion of this project through their financial support. RCO contributed CASH $3,350 (RCO Foundation contributed $1,850) and DDF $1,970. Total amount of the grant including match from The Rotary Foundation (TRF) was $62,533.
August 2010 Matching Grant, MG73246, was submitted by Jon Stine as International Partner to help provide scholarships for 100 students towards vocational computer courses and trade certificate courses in Mabalacat and Angeles City, Philippines. This grant came from our involvement with Mabalacat RC in the solar oven grant in the Philippines in the Aeta Community. Host Club was Rotary Club of Mabalacat, Philippines. RCO contributed CASH $100 and DDF $4,000. Total amount of the grant including match from The Rotary Foundation (TRF) was $21,550.
July 2009 Matching Grant, MG70649, was submitted by Jon Stine as International Partner to provide solar ovens as a source of nutritious and livelihood to Pacday Elementary School and Aeta Community in Benquet and Pampanga, Philippines. This grant idea was originated when the GSE Team from the Philippines visited RCO on April 3, 2008 and Tony Bautista, Team Leader, saw the posters promoting the solar ovens in Kenya. Host Club was Baguio Sunrise, Philippines, D-3790. RCO committed DDF $3,000. Rotary Clubs of Dr. Phillips, Mt. Dora, The Villages-Sunset and Winter Park contributed both CASH and DDF. Total amount of the grant including match from The Rotary Foundation (TRF) was $32,253.
July 2009 Matching Grant, MG70521, was submitted by Jon Stine as International Partner to provide a solar oven for 900-1000 school kids and orphans to have hot meals in St, Augustine School, Penhalonga, Mutare, Manicaland, Zimbabwe. Host Club was Avondale, Harare, Zimbabwe, D-9210. RCO contributed CASH $100 and DDF $5,000. Dr. Phillips Rotary Club joined with us on this grant, CASH $100 and DDF $3,000. Total amount of the grant including match from The Rotary Foundation (TRF) was $16,450.
April 2008 Our 9th matching grant, MG67298, came as a result of cancellation of MG59834 in Honduras for water wells. This grant was reinstated to provide medical equipment and training in Nassau, Bahamas. RCO contributed CASH $2,000 and through the new District revenue sharing of DDF, the RCO contributed DDF $2,000.
February 2008 Matching Grant, MG65766, was submitted by Jonathas Moreira as International Partner to provide physical therapy equipment to ACDD, the Christian Association for the Sick and the Handicapped in Foz do Iguacu, Parana, Brazil. Host Club was Rotary Club of Foz do Iguacu-Ponte, Brazil, D-4640. Rotary Clubs of The Villages, The Villages-Sunset and Windermere contributed CASH $5,882 and RCO contributed DDF $5,000. Total amount of the grant including match from The Rotary Foundation (TRF) was $32,323. This grant originated from the mission trips to Brazil by Jonathas Moreira.
November 2007 Matching Grant, MG63323, was submitted by Jon Stine as International Partner to provide solar ovens and kitchen utensils for Mukuru School and Good Samaritan Children’sHome and Rehabiltation center in Nairobi, Kenya. Host Club was Rotary Club of Milamani, Nairobi, Kenya, D-9212. The RCO was a CASH Contributor of $11,000 and Winter Park of $ 3,000. RCO committed DDF $2,735, Winter Park committed DDF $811. Total amount of the grant including match from The Rotary Foundation (TRF) was $29,897 which includes an additional $1,055 in support to clear customs in Kenya. This grant emanated from a visit of Jon Stine to the slums of Nairobi, Kenya, in September 2004, and the introduction of the solar oven concept by Jonathas Moriera.
September 2004 Matching Grant, MG54330, was submitted by Jon Stine as International Partner to provide 130 desks, 45 tables and 45 chairs for four Maasi community schools in Loita Division 0f Narok district near Nairobi, Kenya. Host Club was Rotary Club of Milamani, Nairobi, Kenya, D-9212. The RCO was a CASH Contributor of $2,000. D6980, in support of RCO, committed DDF $2,000. Total amount of the grant including match from The Rotary Foundation (TRF) was $9,445. This includes $695 additional transportation charges. Actually the Loita schools received 170 desks, 13 tables and 13 chairs. This grant originated when Jon Stine visited Kenya and the RCO created the Africa School Project to assist in the education of youth in 2001.
November 2003 Matching Grant, MG51673 to provide books and desks to Mukuru School in Nairobi, Kenya. Host Club was Rotary Club of Milamani, Nairobi, Kenya, D-9212. RCO was originally to be International Partner, but could not because the Final Report for India MG15377 had not been filed. Rotary of Winter Park filled in for our club. This was the beginning of a continuing strong grant relationship between Winter Park and Orlando. D6980 contributed DDF $2,000 for ten district clubs. Total amount of the grant including match from The Rotary Foundation (TRF) was $8,750. This grant originated out of a contact with the Rotary Club of Milamani when Jon Stine became District Grants Chair for D6980. Our future status to be International Partner was cleared after petitioning TRF with information showing that the RC of Manjeri, India, Host Club was solely responsible for the failure to file the Final Report on our 1st Matching Grant.
March 2002 Matching Grant, MG20851, to help provide a boat and materials for sailing instruction and vocational training for “Bequia Youths and the Sea” in Bequia, St, Vincent and The Grenadines. Host Club was Rotary of Bequia, St. Vincet, D-7030. The RCO was a CASH Contributor of $1,000. D6980, in support of three district clubs, committed DDF $5,000. Total amount of the grant including match from The Rotary Foundation (TRF) was $26,500.
November 2000 Matching Grant, MG15635, was submitted by Katherine Ward as International Partner to help provide furniture and equipment for AFADA, a center for AIDS victims in Araruama, Brazil. The Host Club was Rotary of Araruama, Brazil, D-4750. RCO contributed CASH $2,140. Total amount of the grant including match from The Rotary Foundation (TRF) was $8,560. George Huffman, GSE Team Leader to Brazil in June 2000, was responsible for developing this grant in conjunction with his contact, Rudy Darigo, in the Rotary Club of Arauama.
October 2000 was our 1st Matching Grant, MG15377, was submitted by Katherine Ward as International Partner to help provide renovation furniture and equipment to the Kerala School for the Blind in Kerala, India. The Host Club was Rotary Club of Manjeri, India, D-3202. RCO contributed CASH $1,170. Total amount of the grant including match from The Rotary Foundation (TRF) was $4,680. Unfortunately the Manjeri RC did not file the Final Report with TRF which caused difficulties for RCO later.
