Honoring our veterans is a priority for the Rotary Club of El Dorado Hills. This is evident in our support of the planned Veterans Memorial at Promontory Park.

The club took a field trip to the site of the proposed Veterans' Memorial in Promontory Park on Aug. 28. The meeting was held under the shade of a gazebo, where members and guests heard first-hand from project architect Bob Diesel and committee members, including Rotarians Robert Leon, Mark Foltz, Kathy Witherow, and Bill Tobin.

This project is being designed to honor past and current veterans from World War I to present day conflicts.  The memorial’s theme, “The 100 Year Journey,” was selected to enforce thoughts and ideas of an educational center for youth. A memory garden and a gathering area with a stage are also planned.

Each fall, our club hosts the “Rotary Blues and Brews” event to raise funds for this ambitious project.
