Local organizations received $12,500 in charitable monies. Trick or Treat efforts brought in $3500 for Polio Plus. The club's annual donations to Literature for All of Us continued, along with the Beach Sweep. WHRC members supported the wishes of two families in need during the holidays through the Howard Community Center. The club sponsored and paid private high school tuition for a needy student through Partnership to Educate and Advance Kids. Youth Exchange student Midori Hrada of Japan was also welcomed by the club. WHRC also collected two vans of paper goods for a local food pantry. As its R.I. Centennial Year project, WHRC, in cooperation with the two other Wilmette Rotary clubs, raised more than $25,000 to benefit the expansion of the Wilmette Historical Museum.meeting a $25,000 challenge grant contributed by Rotarian Jim Kline, co-founder of WHRC along with wife Karen. A space was named for Karen at the museum. Rotarian Frank Hussey served as Host Counselor to Ambassadorial Scholar Andrea Raggi from Italy. The club was ranked No. 3 in District 6440 for total annual giving to the Rotary Foundation. Rotarians of the Year: Thayer Casky, Karen Donnan.
