At PETS Susan said she learned that other clubs allow members to donate money to stop bad jokes. She then told several bad jokes in an effort to try to raise money. Rob Davis and Will Daniels kicked in $5 but Susan held out for more money.  She finally stopped out of kindness (and pity) for the club.

PROGRAM:  Catherine Jones - Show Up and Shine

Catherine works with entrepreneurs and professionals to improve their charisma. She has worked in radio and then moved into business where she teaches “Simple steps to boost charisma”.

Many people believe charisma cannot be developed – it is natural gift. Catherine believes it can be developed. Asked for characteristics of charismatic people members suggested sense of humor, self confidence, command of room as some.
Catherine thinks there are types of charisma she refers to as “shine” such as “Shine like Sun” and “Shine like Moon”. She believes introverts can be charismatic.

Catherine talked about how to develop presence. Being present is key. The average person has about 70,000 thoughts/day. Most are repeats. Many are negative. Thoughts can be of future or past. Emotions are the same. Catherine say to shift attention away from the negative.

She teaches how to use the body to focus on present. She had the club get in good body position with neutral spinal alignment and focus on body sensation from the feet to the head. She said that process will help you feel centered and able to focus on the present.

Catherine feels charisma happens in an engagement with another if you can focus on that engagement.
She used to do a radio show – “Who are you” where she asked random questions of callers. People used to wait on hold for an hour or more to talk. People craze the sense that someone is listening to them.

Catherine believes that if you are present to yourself and others and that will create charisma.
