The club sponsored outbound Ambassadorial Scholar Magdalena Walczak to Australia. Local groups were recipients of $16,400 in grants. As well, $4000 was sent to Nepal for clubfoot operations, $2200 was sent to the Fabretto Children's Foundation in Nicaragua to purchase tools for vocational training, and another $2200 was sent to the San Christoferos Home for young people with disabilities, for a bakery project. The club also participated in two Matching Grant projects with clubs in Argentina. Kevin Agnew was sponsored as an Outbound Ambassadorial Scholar to New South Wales, Australia. Through Interact, supplies were provided for the h.s. club's Hearts to Honduras project, and again the club sponsored their peace essay contest. WHRC also donated $500 to bring former slave Francis Bok to Wilmette to speak to village organizations and schools. The local Community Picnic received $500 as well. WHRC, in cooperation with R.I., launched "Cookies for Dough," a fundraising vehicle for Rotary clubs; the project was ended a few years later. The club earned a first place award from the District for their efforts in all four Avenues of Service. WHRC also merited a Presidential Citation from R.I. President Jonathan Majiyagbe.
