March 24 Program- Children's Advocacy Center
Alison Stoll M.A. LPC, and Child & Family Therapist described the many services provided by the Children’s Advocacy Center (CAC) of North and NW Cook County.

The Center provides services to 38 communities and is funded through grants and donors as a not-for-profit.  They intervene to treat the consequences of abuse and/or trauma for both child and affected family members.

Th first point of contact is usually through the legal process of the abuse investigation.  CAC connects families to medical, mental health and other community services.  They then coordinate with local law enforcement, State’s Attorney’s Office and DCFS to conduct a Forensic Interview that limits trauma to the child.

CAC also provides free trauma-informed therapy services to caregivers and children from birth to age 18.

The Center has been in existence for three years, but still are relatively unknown in the area.  We can help with this, by sharing their website with others:  https://www.cachelps.org/contact
2021 Fundraiser Planned for September
Our Fundraising Committee is planning to have an outdoor fundraising event in September.  We hope it will be a 4-club collaboration with the Wilmette Harbor, Winnetka/Northfield and Glencoe Clubs.  We will be raising funds for Our Place, a center for individuals with developmental and intellectual disabilities. Originally planned for June, the date was shifted to a time when people will feel more comfortable to join outdoor events after most have been vaccinated.

While still in the planning stages, our concept is to have a jazz concert performed by local high school bands, at the Wallace Bowl in Gillson Park.  Sponsorships will be our focus at this time.  Our committee will meet after the Club meeting on Wednesday, April 21.  We welcome any and all members to join us.

 Beach Clean-up
Our district and many districts are involved in the Great Lakes Watershed Clean up as part of Earth day celebration.  Our district, 6440 is participating and enthusiastically supporting the event.

The Wilmette Harbor Rotary Club has organized a beach clean-up for Saturday, April 24 from 10am-noon and have invited us to join them. They have selected Elmwood Beach and will meet there on April 24.  Contact George Pearce  (geoknox@comcast.net) of the Harbor Club for details.
New Trier Educational Foundation - Day Of Service April 17
The mission of the New Trier Educational Foundation is to provide private funding for exceptional educational opportunities and special projects that are not funded – or are funded only in part – by the District 203 budget.

Their 20th anniversary kicks off on April 17, 2021 with a  Day of Service.  This special event embraces the New Trier High School motto "to commit minds to inquiry, hearts to compassion, and lives to the service of humanity." New Trier students have a long history of giving back to their communities, a legacy that lives in our alumni.

There are three easy ways to participate:
  • Connect with a student group. Service is a pillar of the New Trier education and many student groups have ongoing service projects. You can help them increase their impact!
  • Find a project near you. Throughout the US we have alumni captains leading projects in their communities. See if there's a project near you, or consider becoming a captain!
  • Choose from our list. There are hundreds of ways to give back to your community. We've compiled a list of our top ideas that you can do on your own or with a group.
