Our club meeting on Sept 7 involved a discussion about the future of our club. It was well-attended and among other ideas was the a consensus that we should meet every other week instead of the current weekly meetings. Also, we will endeavor to book interesting speakers and publicize their programs much more than in the past. The hope is to attract attendees who may become future members. We will also attempt to publicize our current local and international projects to a wider audience.

If you have any inkling whatsoever to broaden international understanding, explore different cultures, find international grant partners and service projects, or help build a foundation for peace and service in our world, check out a Rotary Friendship Exchange(RFE). It promises to be one of the most memorable and rewarding experiences of your lifetime. If your interest is sparked, Google “Rotary RFE” for the unabridged scoop.
District 6440 is planning to engage in a Rotary Friendship Exchange, with the first leg probably in the March to June 2023 time frame. A typical RFE involves Rotarians, their friends and/or spouse visiting an international destination with a reciprocal visit from that Rotary District, staying at each other’s homes.

As World Polio Day approaches, Rotary International is getting ready to amplify our message about eradicating polio to protect the world’s children from this devastating disease. We’ve made tremendous progress so far, and now’s the time to intensify our fight to make polio the second human disease ever to be eradicated. In 2020, the World Health Organization’s African region was certified free of wild poliovirus, showing that eradication is possible even in very difficult circumstances.
The wild poliovirus remains endemic in just two countries — Afghanistan and Pakistan— but as long as polio exists anywhere, it remains a threat everywhere. So let’s use World Polio Day to advocate for the support we need to end polio in countries where children are still as risk.
Don’t miss Rotary’s World Polio Day Global Update, a video program that will offer updates on polio eradication efforts and why continued support is critical to protect our progress. The videos will be available on Facebook and YouTube.
