First Virtual Club Meeting Tomorrow
NO SPEAKER PRESENTATION TOMORROW  --   INSTEAD EACH MEMBER SHOULD GIVE AN UPDATE ON HOW SHE/ HE IS DOING DURING THIS SHELTER-IN-PLACE TIME SO FAR.  THE COMMITTEE CHAIRS SHOULD ALSO GIVE AN UPDATE ON WHAT, IF ANYTHING, IS HAPPENING WITH THEIR COMMITTEE DURING THIS TIME.

A virtual  meeting may not be as much fun as a face-to-face meeting, but in spite of the difficulties involved, it is the only meeting that we can have now during these Stay-At-Home times. So please grab a sandwich or whatever and join your fellow members for lunch this Wednesday at noon.

You should have received a link to join the meeting.  All you need is a computer, phone, or ipad with a camera and a microphone.  You may also join the meeting by phone.  If you did not get the link by email, contact John Held.

Hope to see as many members as possible tomorrow.
Satellite Project Update
Our Satellite's project to help the Sisters of  Christian Charity in Wilmette is continuing. We send a check that covers groceries to be delivered for the week, and provide one catered meal per week for the 29 sisters at the convent. A week of groceries or one meal costs about $400.  Donations to date have exceeded $5200 using online payments through the link on our website, "COVID-19 Response Sisters of Charity".

The Satellite group has raised over $11,000 this year in their overall fundraising efforts.  Kudos to this enthusiastic and committed group.
NEW BLOOD DRIVE UPDATE
Vitalant, formerly LifeSource, will now be testing all blood donations for COVID-19 antibodies. Our next Blood Drive (Donation Date) is scheduled for June 26th, 2020, at (or about) Noon - Vitalant/Lifesource, 2436 Main Street, Evanston, Illinois 60202.  Please remind anyone who may be interested to make an appointment by calling 877-25-VITAL or going on-line at www.Vitalant.org.  The "Group Code" for The Rotary Club of Wilmette is WM-17.  This is a great way to get tested.

Support Wilmette Businesses
From the Wilmette/Kenilworth Chamber of Commerce:  In the spirit of community and making sure many of our neighbor businesses and their employees survive and thrive during this time of crisis, we are asking you to remember to shop online at your local businesses and order from local restaurants. See our Open for Business Updates for a list of restaurants offering curbside pickup or delivery and information about other stores and service businesses. Wilmette businesses are here for you!
Service Above Self During COVID-19
As Rotarians, we need to remember that we should seek to provide  "Services Above Self” assistance to all (including your family) whenever possible while maintaining the COVID-19 "Stay in Home" guidelines.

For friends and acquaintances : make phone calls or send emails to those who might be lonely.  Send cute pictures of your pets or children.

For family:  All this "togetherness" that we are experiencing now could create some additional family stress.  Let your family know you love them and be patient with all the "togetherness" issues.  Try not to criticize family members or bring up past displeasures.  Take the time to really listen to their feelings about how they are coping.
Member's Corner
Art Sutton was on a cruise ship that was docked outside of Miami.  He returned last Tuesday and reported that there were no problems on the ship, but getting home from Miami was challenging.

Debora Morris selected some exercises that most people can do at home to stay fit. She will be happy to email these to anyone who wants them. debora@pftl.net

Welcome!
Our Motto:
Service Above Self
Because of Corona virus safety concerns, we are now conducting Virtual Meetings. Please join us when we are able to have live meetings at our usual location.
