Special Program This Week- Thomas J. Meade
We are honored to present a special program for the club meeting on Wednesday.  We will hear from Dr. Thomas J. Meade.  Dr. Meade is a highly successful inventor and entrepreneur, a founder of several tech companies worth hundreds of millions. He is also the Eileen M. Foell Professor of Cancer Research, as well as the Director of the Center for Advanced Molecular Imaging, and a Professor of Weinberg College of Arts & Sciences, and of Radiology, all at Northwestern University. Dr. Meade is the quintessential researcher who values collaboration with others from many disciplines.  He will speak to us about the latest research in cancer treatments.
July 21 Program - Electric Railways
Our member, John Plante (President Elect) spoke to us about how electric railways work.  He explained the structure, the uses, the precautions, the safety features, etc. of the Chicago electric rail system.   It was a fascinating look at this unique system of transportation.
Blood Drive- August 13th
The Blood Drive is at (or about) Noon on Friday, August 13th, at the Vitalant/LifeSource Center at 2436 Main Street, Evanston.  Try to make an appointment...10, 20 or even 30 minutes before, or after, Noon; if no appointments are available they do take walk-ins, but you may have to wait a bit. Lunch on the President at Dengeos after the blood donation; if you show up and are unable to donate for any reason, I'll still buy lunch. Reminder:  the Group/Sponsor Code, which credits the Club for the donation, is:  "WM-17".
Tickets On Sale Now
Our fundraiser is only Two Weeks Away!  On September 22, we will hold a benefit concert to support Our Place. Our Place is a center for developmentally and intellectually disabled teens and adults.   It will be held at the Wallace Bowl in Gillson Park, Wilmette from 5PM to 8PM.  Three bands have generously donated a performance for our event: The Suzanne Cross Combo, a jazz combo from the Midwest Young Artists Conservatory and a jazz band from New Trier High School.

We will also have a raffle with travel packages to include a week's stay in a private house in Scottsdale, AZ and a second raffle for a 4-night stay in a luxury condo in San Francisco. Each raffle package includes $500 cash.

Tickets are $25 per person.  Raffle tickets are $50 or 3 for $100.  Both event tickets and raffle tickets can be purchased online at:
