Member John Plante Bio

Editor's Note: The Club asks a member to give a biography of themselves from time to time.   It is always interesting to learn about our member's lives, and John Plante's bio was quite informative;  he even showed some photos depicting milestones in his life which were fascinating.

John Plante is currently on the Board of Directors of Metra and also serves as treasurer.  He is a relatively recent member of the Club, having joined in 2018.

John retired from the Chicago Transit Authority in 2013 after 35 years at the agency.  He created and managed the CTA’s first in-house major litigation team. John became Managing Attorney of the Claims Department, which involved management of the in-house claims staff and all pre-litigation claims both against the CTA and those made by the CTA for losses it suffered.  Following the events of Sept. 11, 2001, John’s activities, as then Managing Attorney of Risk Management became focused on external risks. As this area began to dominate his work activity, it was a natural move to his next position, Senior Manager of Emergency Preparedness, the position he held upon his retirement.
