The Wilmette Rotary Club is working with Galya Ruffer, Senior Lecturer at Northwestern University and founding Director of the Center for Forced Migration Studies in a community partnership project known as COMPASS. This program is designed to provide refugees additional assistance in the settlement process beyond the basic US government resources. The hope is that this will move refugees into active participation in their communities and thereby making their experience better for both the refugees and the communities they live in. This is a pilot project but there is interest throughout the country in using this model if it proves successful.
