BOY SCOUT CABIN In the Spring of 2012, The Rotary Club of Wheaton rededicated the Boy Scout Cabin at Northside Park. The club contributed labor and materials to help improve the heating and electrical, paint the interior, provide screens for the windows and provide cabinets. Funds were contributed that allowed Wheaton Parks Services staff to remove asbestos, reline the chimney, refinish the ceiling and lighting, install the cabinets and a new floor. The improvements transformed the space from the bright, white space it had been to a more natural look that reflects the historical nature of the cabin. A local Boy Scout enlisted his troop to plant trees, shrubs and ferns around the cabin for his Eagle project. On the inside of the cabin, approximately a dozen volunteers from the Rotary Club of Wheaton gathered to clean and paint.
