The Rotary Club of Schaumburg-Hoffman Estates continues to support the Blessings in a Backpack program at Hoffman Estates High School.  This program provides weekend meals for students and their families where there is a need for such support.  Receiving the check on behalf of HEHS are Josh Schumacher, principal and Debby Miller.  The check is being presented by Club President Steve Lamp and Community Service Director Eileen Higginbotham.

District 54, in response to the very real needs of our communities, began providing free breakfasts in our schools.  Last year the Rotary Club of Schaumburg committed to fund the free breakfast program for Keller Junior High School.  We were the second sponsor to step up and commit to providing funding for an entire school.  With the start of the new school year our club has donated another $10,000 to continue the program at Keller this year.  Receiving the check on behalf of District 54 are Daryl Saylor, District 54 Trustee and Jennifer Waldorf, Communications Specialist for School District 54

The District 54 Foundation has committed to raising $280,000 annually to fund breakfast programs at all District 54 schools to ensure that students begin their day ready to learn.  Nearly one-fourth of District 54 students qualify for the federal free lunch program, and while District 54 receives state and federal funds for the lunch program, schools that want to offer breakfast programs to our students in need must raise the money on their own. Currently the Foundation is funding breakfast programs at 19 District 54 schools. This initiative supports the outstanding academic program in place in D54 schools.
