Congratulations to Schaumburg resident Sebastian Frank for completing his Eagle Scout project.
As part of the rigorous Eagle Scout requirements, Sebastian, who is a member of Boy Scout Troop 193, led a group of scouts and adult leaders from his troop to build and install nine monofilament fishing line recycling tubes at five lakes managed by the Schaumburg Park District.
The goal of this project was to provide an environmentally friendly way to discard used and broken monofilament fishing line. These recycling tubes will reduce the likelihood of anglers becoming snagged on discarded line, and will protect birds, fish, and other wildlife from ingesting or entangling themselves in the broken fishing line.
Schaumburg AM Rotary has acted as the chartered organization/sponsor of Boy Scout Troop 193 since 1998.  The troop operates out of Michael Collins Elementary School located at 407 Summit Drive in Schaumburg.
