At our September 26th club meeting we welcomed four student representatives of the Rotaract Club at Harper College in addition to Lauren Chilvers, the group’s Harper staff advisor.  These students shared their stories describing how they are continuing their education at Harper through the school’s Promise and Fishing Well Scholarship programs, both of which include an element of community service as a requirement.

Harper Rotaract just celebrated its first-year anniversary and is supported by the Rotary Club of Schaumburg-Hoffman Estates, Barrington Breakfast Rotary and the Rotary Club of Schaumburg A.M.

Rotaract clubs bring together people ages 18-30 to exchange ideas with leaders in the community, develop leadership and professional skills, and have fun through service. These clubs decide how to organize, plan and carry out activities and service projects aligned with causes that are important to them and their community.

Harper Rotaract is hosting a Taco Tasting fundraiser on Friday October 19 from 6 – 9 pm at Los Fernandez Restaurant located at 2557 West Golf Rd in Hoffman Estates.  Tickets are $10 and the restaurant will donate 50% to Harper Rotaract.  Join us for tacos, fun and fellowship as we support this group of young adults who are investing in their future through education while at the same time making a difference in their back yard.
Future Rotarians in the making?  We think so!
