Our next meeting for ESRAG Projects Division Seminars is Wednesday, September 28, 2022 – 10 AM CDT
(1:00pm UTC 3:00 pm CEST, Germany, 10:00 am CDT Evanston)
Topic: 15-minute City Urban Imaging
Storyline: The 15-minute-city is an urbanistic model that stands for a human-centric and environmentally sustainable future for cities. The core of the concept is that cities should be designed, or re-designed, in a way that every resident can reach the daily needs within the distance of a 15-minute walk or bike-ride.
Bios: Dr. Hotzl has extensive experience in municipal planning and architecture from the City of Augsberg, Germany. Since 2021, Monika has been employed as a free architect, with her focus on public buildings (kindergarten and schools, administration buildings): conversion, sustainable upgrade, remodeling and refurbishments. In 2022, she registered as an energy efficiency consultant.
Date and Time:Wednesday Sept. 28, 2022, 1:00pm UTC (3:00 pm CEST, Germany)
“Volunteers from the Rotary Club of the Ecuadorian city of Ambato, in cooperation with the Foundation for the Conservation of Aquatic and Terrestrial Biodiversity (FUCOBI), completed that difficult journey on Oct.1 to deliver 21 foldscopes — microscopes made of paper — donated by Southborough Rotary Club.
“There are no science labs in Ecuador,” said Dr. Acacia Warren, president of the Southborough Rotary Club. “Children (in Ecuador) are not exposed to any classes on science, and there’s just a lack of educational opportunity to do hands-on scientific research.””
Our club needs volunteers (and donors) from 10 a.m. – 2 p.m. at to participate in the annual blood drive. We will need coordinators and donors at the Bloodmobile at Culver’s of Northbrook, 4105 Dundee Rd. Contact Gary for details.
We're proud that our District 6440 won a Rotary Public Image Citation for our work last year. It's in recognition of the fine Public Image activities of our clubs and District in spreading great Rotary messages and logos and news to nearby communities. Congratulations to all and let's keep it up this Rotary year. See Citation above.

President Mitch needs our help!
He has sent a request to present at the October 4th meeting. (One Rotarian has volunteered so far.) He needs 2 more to stand up and share your story with the club. Mitch says, "It is a gift to share your story with our fellow members." And it truly is! Please volunteer - he needs two more to speak. If you have never given your bio or if it has been awhile, please consider speaking. Your presentation can be as long as 10 min, or less. I hope new members know they are welcome to participate in this as well!
Please let Pres. Mitch know one way or another today if you can!
At last weeks meeting we were honored to host a succession line of Governor's from Rotary District 6440! Current Governor, Bill Kmiecik shared a program about how the people you meet in Rotary and the people you meet through Rotary truly change your life. Past Gov. Kevin Smith, and upcoming Gov. Mary Bak attended. We also inducted Alisa Martorano from TotalLink2 Community and honored three members who have moved up another level as Major Donors for the Rotary Foundation - JP Deheeger, Donna Lee Gulley and Jim Kucienski!
A new quarter is around the corner, and the club reminds you to please make your dues payment. There are still some payments outstanding so please help us and get this up -to-date.
