Rotary is a club we are all proud to be part of. But the heart of Rotary – Service Above Self – is found all around us. Our Vocational Committee has created the Rotary Business Spotlight Awardto honor a business and or its owner or executive for its commitment to giving back to the community. Led by David Masters the committee includes Kate Hall, Peter Herman, and Jon Miller who headed up this new initiative. So many companies have a community service focus. We witness this each time we look for sponsors and supporters for our various programs. Still there are so many more we are not aware of.
Now our club is making a commitment to put a spotlight on these special community leaders! The committee searched out several organizations based on evidence of community involvement and support that exemplify the Rotary ideal of “Service Above Self”.
On Tuesday, March 2nd at our regular [zoom] Rotary meeting we will award a Paul Harris Fellowship and a plaque to a deserving business. Hope to "see you" there for the big reveal!

The Rotary Club of Northbrook will host a Neighbors Helping Neighbors [NHN] Reverse Raffle that will be live streamed from the NSYMCA on March 13, 2021 at 6:30 pm. Tickets are $50 each and must be purchased online BEFORE March 6, 2021, but winners do not have to be present to win.

Our raffle will be live-streamed from the North Suburban YMCA on Saturday, March 13th so everyone can take-part and virtually participate in the fun! District 6440 is a member of the Central States Rotary Youth Exchange (CSRYE) organization supporting exchanges across 20 Districts. Based on February 1st Board meeting, CSRYE has decided to further pause the Long-term Exchange program. District 6440 will not be sponsoring 2021 Summer Short-term exchanges. While students will not be hosted or travel abroad for the 2021-22 exchange year, clubs can resume recruitment for the 2022-23 year. Attached is the notice that will be posted on our website.
We have a call for volunteers for several open positions on the District committee. Please review and share with your clubs or people you think that might be interested in supporting these awesome programs. Participation is not limited to specific skillsets or Rotary Youth Exchange experience in order to volunteer. So, join us and help "Open Opportunities" for future students.
HONOLULU (Feb. 18, 2021) — Almost one year after canceling its international convention in Honolulu due to the COVID-19 coronavirus pandemic, Rotary announced it will hold its annual gathering in Honolulu for the membership service organization’s 118th convention on June 5-9, 2027. Held in a different city around the world each year, Rotary conventions bring members from all continents and cultures together to learn from each other and various experts, and to share ideas for delivering long-term solutions to the world’s most persistent humanitarian issues. Approximately 20,000 Rotary members from 170 countries were expected to attend the event in Honolulu in 2020, which was estimated to bring $35-40 million into the local economy.
“After canceling our convention in 2020 due to COVID-19, we are grateful to the citizens of Honolulu for welcoming us again in 2027,” said Rotary International President Holger Knaack. “As a global organization that values bringing people together, we look forward to sharing and celebrating our friendships, cultures and service in the spirit of Aloha.”
Organized by Rotary International in conjunction with the Honolulu Host Organizing Committee of local Rotary members, the convention will provide attendees with ample opportunities to experience Oahu’s many attractions.
The Rotary International Convention, scheduled for 12-16 June 2021, in Taipei, Taiwan, will now be a virtual event in response to the ongoing threat of COVID-19.
