Rotary Club will march at the Northbrook Parade. This will be prior to the the Velodrome Hot Dog Serving and you can volunteer for both or either.
Our club will be tossing out hot dog gummies with stickers to encourage folks to come to the Velodrome.
PARADE details: The Northbrook 4th of July parade steps off at 4 p.m. July 4 just west of Westmoor School, 2500 Cherry Lane, and ends at Village Hall, 1225 Cedar Lane. Accessible parking will be available at the Northbrook United Methodist Church. Restrooms will be open at Westmoor School and portable restrooms on Cedar Lane.
After the parade, people can enjoy DJ entertainment at the Ed Rudolph Velodrome beginning at 7 p.m., followed by spectacular fireworks at dusk that can be best viewed from Meadowhill Park and Techny Prairie Park and Fields with hot dogs, chips and beverages available for purchase from the Rotary Club of Northbrook.
Denis Polina takes the helm of our Rotary Club at the same time the theme changes to “The Magic of Rotary.”
But if you have had the opportunity and gift of working with Denis – you will know magic is not really involved! Denis has been – like so many in our club - a hands on, ready to jump in doer! So, we congratulate him as he takes on the ultimate leadership role.
He will continue the legacy of those before him in guiding our group of “volunteers” (aka Rotarians) committed to making a positive impact on our community and beyond.
Our acts of kindness provide meaningful affirmative changes to the lives of the people and communities that we serve. As part of Rotary International, a global network of clubs, we are dedicated to creating a better world through service.
Through our various service projects, we address a wide range of critical issues, including poverty, hunger, physical health, mental health, deafness, homelessness, education, community development and the environment.
Presently we are helping to support approximately twenty-five nonprofit organizations with both our monetary grants and volunteer work. Rotary's motto is "service above self".
Our funding is provided by donations from our members, fund-raising drives, sponsors, Rotary International matches and generous donors.
We encourage you to join us in making a positive difference in the world in which we live.

We collected 16 pints of blood at our last drive in January, which was terrific. I hope we can match that amount this time, if not exceed it, as the need always grows in the summer months. Thank you.
I received this from Rich Brill – who leads the district committee I am on, called Public Image. “The Rotary Districts in Australia, New Zealand and Oceania published a great magazine issue entirely on Rotary Club Public Image. Articles tell everything you’d want to know, and much more, about Rotary Public Image and how to make it most successful for your club.”
There are colorful features on:
Rotary Public Image, the Rotary Brand Center and Learning Center
Promoting Your Club
Canva Software
Public Events
Public Relations
Photos and Videos
AI - Artificial Intelligence
Radio Broadcasts and Podcasts
And that is only half the 60-page issue! To that end a link is provided, and you are invited to open the link, read these articles over time, and discover how what we do can be captured in a way that creates joy for our club volunteers and shows others how valuable membership can be.
How can you help our club?
Provide our clubs’ Public image chair, Kathi Quinn, with full details of your planned events, making sure to include the Who/What/Where/Why/How of the event or activity.
Make sure you notify the PI team well in advance of the event. The earlier the better.
This will help get volunteers scheduled, sponsors secured, tickets sold etc. Also, this will help the club get publicity to fill the event with attendees.
Include any information or web link of the benefiting organization. Do worry about formatting the PI team can help with that.
KEY: At events – “assign” a Rotarian or guest to be the “photographer”. Photos should be Rotarians in action, doing the volunteer work, (not shaking hands.)
Even better – try a video! Do a clip that can be shared with the club on our social media.
Why is branding important? Because when there is consistent messaging – membership and loyalty grows.
Consider ways to enhance our public image and make our club more successful.
Debbie Madeley is our website and Facebook coordinator so make sure she gets photos after the event to post and share.
