Today October 2, 2018: We welcome Tim Stewart, a retired U.S. Army captain, who uses his 38+ years of athletic coaching combined with 20+ years of military leadership and 30+ years of experience in industrial personnel financial management to guide his clients over the many hurdles he has already conquered in his life.
Today is also Food Pantry Day. Please remember to bring non-perishable donations for the Northfield Township Food Pantry.
Items most needed at the Pantry include: boxed cereal, canned peas and mixed vegetables, diapers, 100% bottled juice and juice boxes and person hygiene items.
Last Regular Meeting: We had our monthly Avenues of Service meeting. Each table represented an avenue of service and groups discussed current and future projects.
PDG Ellen Young presented Northbrook Rotarian Marvin Feig with a certificate welcoming him into the Paul Harris Society.
The Paul Harris Society recognizes Rotary members and friends of The Rotary Foundation who elect to contribute $1,000 or more each year to the Annual Fund, PolioPlus Fund, or approved global grants.
The purpose of the Paul Harris Society is to honor and thank individuals for their generous, ongoing support of The Rotary Foundation.
Rotary districts often honor new members of the Paul Harris Society by presenting them with a certificate and chevron at a district or club event.
Oktoberfest Fundraiser and Raffle:
Our annual fundraiser is quickly approaching.
We need items for our live and silent auctions. Items could be gift certificates/cards, experiences, trips, event tickets, etc.
We are also asking members to donate one or two bottles of wine, with a minimum $20 value, for the wine pull.
You can bring wine and auction items to the weekly meetings and give them to Ed Gordon or another member of the planning committee.

Through academic training, practice, and global networking opportunities, the Rotary Peace Centers program develops leaders who become catalysts for peace and conflict prevention and resolution. These fellowships cover tuition and fees, room and board, round-trip transportation, and all internship and field-study expenses. In just over a decade, the Rotary Peace Centers have trained more than 1,000 fellows for careers in peacebuilding. Many of them are serving as leaders at international organizations or have started their own foundations.
Peace fellowship applicants must meet these requirements:
Proficiency in English; a second language is strongly recommended
Demonstrated commitment to international understanding and peace
Excellent leadership skills
Master’s degree applicants: minimum three years of related full-time work or volunteer experience, bachelor’s degree
Certificate applicants: minimum five years of related full-time work or volunteer experience, strong academic background
An Interact club is a Rotary club sponsored organization of young people, ages 12 to 18, whose purpose is to provide opportunity for them to work together in a world fellowship dedicated to service and international understanding and leadership development skills.
An Interact club is organized, sponsored and supervised by a Rotary club or clubs and is established following the endorsement of the governor and upon certification and recognition by Rotary International; and its continued existence depends upon the continued sponsorship of its sponsor Rotary club(s) and continued recognition by Rotary International.
Sponsor Rotary clubs are responsible for organizing the Interact club and for providing it with guidance and counsel thereafter and have complete control and supervision over all activities, policies, and programs of the Interact club.
