There are ONLY 13 days left until our Spring fundraiser on April 24th.
I hope you will attend with family and/or friends for a fun evening. Our goal of $20,000 is consistent with past Spring events. Sadly, we are only at $7055 (35% of our goal). Some of you may have sold tickets but have been unable to turn them in. In that case, if you attend our service event at Feed Six this Tuesday, you can give me your sales. I will get them to Alisa to post.
If you have sales and will not be at Feed Six, email me or call me at 847-732-5397. I will arrange with you to get the tickets to Alisa. In any case, we are very short of our goal, and an extra effort by all of us would be a great benefit to a worthy cause.

7th AREA OF FOCUS - EARTH & ARBOR DAYS GIVE REASON TO CELEBRATE
Supporting the environment is Rotary's seventh area of focus. It joined peace-building and conflict prevention; disease prevention and treatment; water, sanitation, and hygiene; maternal and child health; basic education and literacy; and community economic development.
Rotary is committed to supporting activities that strengthen the conservation and protection of natural resources, advance ecological sustainability, and foster harmony between communities and the environment. We empower communities to access grants and other resources, embrace local solutions, and spur innovation to address the causes and reduce the effects of climate change and environmental degradation.
The Rotary Foundation in Foundation global grant funding has allocated 18.4 million USD to environment-related causes in the past five years through their support of community economic development and water, sanitation, and hygiene projects. Our Water and Sanitation Global Grant with International partner RC of Fig Garden addresses sanitation issues which affect the environment in twenty-one remote villages in Northern Thailand.
Some of the ways we can work on environmental challenges by:
Protecting and restoring land, coastal, marine, and freshwater resources
Enhancing the capacity of communities to support natural resource management and conservation
Supporting sustainable agriculture, fishing, and aquaculture practices
Addressing the cause of climate change by reducing the emission of greenhouse gases
Strengthening ecosystems and communities affected by climate change
Supporting education initiatives that promote behavior that protects the environment
Advocating for sustainable consumption to build an economy that uses resources more efficiently
Addressing environmental justice issues and public health concerns

Join us in hosting the World's Largest Polio Walk on October 24, 2026!
Rotarians from Zones 25b & 29 will be participating in the World's Largest Polio Walk by joining forces to walk together at 10 a.m. CDT for an end to polio.
Hosted by District 6440, the walk is planned to take place throughout the Midwest. Guess how many states how many clubs are participating?
World’s Largest Polio Walk scheduled for October 24, 2026, the current participation plans are centered around a large-scale collaboration across the central United States:
Scope of Participation
Target Districts: The primary push is coming from Rotary Zones 25B and 29, which collectively represent a massive footprint across the Midwest and Central United States.
Geographic Reach: The event is designed to span multiple states, with organizers from District 6440 (Illinois) coordinating with clubs throughout the central U.S. to ensure a unified start time of 10:00 a.m. CDT.
While a final "club count" for 2026 is still growing, the zones involved typically represent hundreds of clubs.
Growth and Planning
Organizers are currently holding monthly planning sessions to recruit more districts and clubs to break the standing world record.
The goal is to have every club within these two massive zones (which cover areas like Illinois, Wisconsin, Michigan, Iowa, and Minnesota) activate their members for this single, synchronized walk.
