Donna's Report

Dear ShelterBox Club Champion:

I am sure that you and your Rotary club members have been trying to figure out how you can best help the people who have been devastated by Hurricanes Helene and Milton.  It will take a great deal of money to provide help and hope to the people of the Asheville, NC area, in many parts of Florida, and wherever Helen and Milton has cause destruction.

Shelterbox USA has two recommendations to provide help:

(1) An initial $100,000 matching grant has been set up by Shelterbox USA to help the Rotarians on the ground in the disaster areas provide valuable relief. Send donations to the Rotary Zones 33 and 34 Disaster Recovery Fund (superform.app). Put “Shelterbox Match” in the Transaction Description so that your generous donation is doubled by the match. This vital support will help deliver emergency aid such as solar lights, shelter supplies, clean water, warm blankets and sleeping bags, and personal hygiene items directly to the hardest-hit areas.

(2) Send money directly to Shelterbox to help send supplies that are desperately needed: power banks so that people can charge their phones and solar lights. Other aid such as blankets may also be sent.  Donations to Shelterbox USA can via the Shelterbox USA website at https://www.shelterboxusa.org/hurricanes-helene-and-milton/. [ShelterBox USA has sent an initial shipment of 600 solar lights and 600 solar-powered batteries, ensuring that families can stay connected and have a reliable light source during these difficult times. We have also sent 200 large bags to safely package and distribute critical emergency supplies, including aid that will likely be airlifted to areas that have been isolated due to damaged roads.]

To donate to Shelterbox USA via ACH or Wire transfer, the address is as follows:  Chase Bank, 1302 State Street, Floor 2, Santa Barbara, CA 93101, Account number 851973815. For ACH, use routing number 322271627.  For wire transfer, use routing number 021000021.

Thank you for your generous support of Rotary Zones 33 and 34, as well as to Shelterbox USA.

Yours in service,
Donna Lee Gulley

Club FUNdraiser Project!!

How our club can generate funds-with your help!

On 10/21/24 we will begin a new fund-raiser overseen by a company named HundredX.

It will involve no monetary outlay from you, your family or friends. The fund-raiser will involve each of us selecting and rating, by email text or both, up to 75 brands or companies from a list of 3000.

SCOPE:
The ratings are simple and can each be done in less than two minutes.
For each we will receive $1.60 with a maximum recovery of $10,000 for the club.
The project will end on 11/18/24.

All opinions are private and personal information will not be shared.
We will not be able to reach $10,000 with our present membership of 54.  Therefore, Denis is requesting that each member recruit at least one non-Rotarian, over the age of 18, to take part in this survey.

Each member will receive, around 10/21/24, an email advising you of the link to use in order for you to sign up, and there will be a section to click in order for you to invite others to sign up.

Debbie Madeley, Rick Rivkin and Sandy Frum have all volunteered to assist anyone having difficulty with the technical aspects of this project. Feel free to reach out to them if you run into difficulty.
