We invite you to learn how to be an UPSTANDER when you see harassment, bullying or intimidation towards another person. Learn skills to intervene safely if you are a witness to harassment—skills applicable to all ethnic and gender situations.
The webinar gives five strategies for intervention: distract, delegate, document, delay and direct; and how to prioritize one’s own safety while intervening. Practice scenarios will give viewers more confidence intervening the next time they see anti-Asian-American harassment.
The Annual State of the Village Address: Join the chamber who invites our club and the business community to find out about important
issues facing the Northbrook community going forward.
Village President Kathryn Ciesla delivers the 2022 Annual State of Village Address on January 26. This special event brings together Village leadership, the business community, and residents for an overview of challenges, accomplishments, and goals for the coming year. Members are strongly encouraged to join this unique and informative lunchtime Zoom event.
The Chamber is excited to welcome President Ciesla for her first State of the Village since taking office in May 2021. Her presentation will provide an overview of key community updates and a summary of the Village's goals for 2022. President Ciesla is expected to discuss how Northbrook's economy is rebounding as we emerge from the pandemic, infrastructure investments, economic development/retention, potential large-scale developments, partnerships and community events. She also will discuss the Village's new Climate Action Plan, with emphasis on how businesses can get involved with new sustainability initiatives.
Prior to her election as Village President, Kathryn Ciesla served on the Board of Trustees for 12 years. As a Trustee, she chaired the Administration and Finance Committee, the Ad Hoc Labor Relations Committee and the TIF Joint Review Board. She also has been active over the last 20 years as a volunteer with a variety of organizations. A partner in the law firm Ciesla Beeler LLC, Ciesla feels that her personal experience as a small business owner informs her views of the needs and contributions of local businesses. She looks forward to this opportunity to speak with the Chamber community.

5000 golfers playing 3000 courses in 50 countries to raise $750,000 to eradicate Polio, in February. Want to be a part of that? In Illinois? In FEBRUARY?
Sure! We've partnered with X-Golf, a chain of upscale golf simulators with locations across the District - Downers Grove, Glenview, Libertyville, Schaumburg, Geneva, and Algonquin.
We'll all be playing the back nine of Pebble Beach Golf Links, unanimously rated the #1 public course in the US. You choose to play as an individual, or as a member of a scramble team. Tell us who you want to play with, or we'll assign you to a group. There will be (small) prizes for the best individual score for women and men, and for the best scramble score.
You decide which location you want to play at and tell us your preferred time (daytime or evening during the week, or weekend). We'll work with the X-Golf location to schedule your group.
The cost? $100 gets you nine holes on the simulator, a memento, and provides a $50 donation (credited to you and your club) to PolioPlus. This event is open to your non-Rotarian friends and family. They can request a tax receipt for their donation; but if they don’t want one, we’ll credit you. Food and drink will be available for purchase. Expect your round to take between two and three hours.
