More About the Rotary Race for Charity

The route for the 5K Run/ 3K Walk follows streets and roads through the picturesque village of Long Grove. The event goes on rain or shine and the official festivities are held in a large tent near the start and end of the Run/Walk, at Kildeer Countryside School just north of the business center of Long Grove, McHenry Road and Robert Parker Coffin Road.

Serious runners will be glad to know that this is a Chicago Area Runners Association event and that we use chip timing. Race results will be posted at www.cararuns.org and at this website.  Water and aid stations are provided along the course. Trophies and awards are awarded five deep in many age and gender categories.

A unique feature of this event is the pairing of our Rotary Club with local charities. Last year we partnered with nine local charities including Exodus World Service, the Christopher Steele Foundation,  The Center on Deafness, the Mothers' Milk Bank of the Western Great Lakes, and others. A full list appears on the race website. Our Club manages all Race administration and logistics: the course, timing, registration systems, T-shirts, breakfast, and more.  That allows the charities to focus on registrations and fundraising.

Participants register with one of the participating charities, and receive a t-shirt commemorating the event and their effort, breakfast, and a goody bag for the sponsors which includes information on the participating charities.

Organizations wishing to work with Rotarians to benefit their own charitable efforts while having a great family outing may contact Lyle Staab, Race Director, by sending an email to longgroverotaryinfo@gmail.com.

Registration will begin mid-summer, at http://www.rotaryrace.org.
