Reporting from Zoom. We had a few technical difficulties to start the meeting, so we missed the pledge, prayer and some opening comments.

Larry Neal was happy to announce his youngest son is employed.

 

Rick Mittelman is either retiring from golf or believes he has a career in golf after recording a hole-in-one one day and an eagle the following day.

 

Dave Ritland announced the completion of the installation of a security system at the Lake County Haven which was the recipient of his annual giving program. 

 

As of Wednesday the 19th 73 tickets have been sold for the wine event. Club members are encouraged to continue to spread the word about the event, as well as purchase tickets for both the event and the raffle. Additional volunteers are still needed. Please respond to Doug Fendon’s email regarding the event attendance, so that the committee can determine where to focus their marketing efforts.  

 

Survey results related to the meeting time are in favor of transitioning back to the original start time. 

 

Larry Neal provided us with a fall reading list and delighted us with a game of match that book title to its author.

 

Today’s program featured Kenzie MacKillop from Feed My Starving Children. Feed My Starving Children is a Christian nonprofit organization that partners with organizations and ministries across the globe to end hunger. The organization has partnered with 70 countries worldwide to ensure that 99% of the food it delivers arrives safely.

 

Prior to this year Feed My Starving Children operated 8 permanent sites and multiple MobilePacks across the country. The organization suffered a few setbacks as a result of the Covid-19 pandemic, however it has still managed to provide 368,000,000 meals from the start of 2019 to the present.

 

Meal packaging was suspended in the early part of the year and the MobilePacks have been cancelled through 2021, but other opportunities have presented themselves which have helped the organization continue its mission. A partnership was formed with Karlsburger Foods which allowed for machine packing of meals. Once the operation was up and running it was able to provide 2,000,000 meals in the first week to Haiti and Nicaragua. The organization also started a partnership with a correctional facility in Minnesota in April and were able to package and ship 1,000,000 meals in the first 6 weeks.
