FUN & FROLICS:
In honor of Thanksgiving, Tucker Olson entertained us with Turkey Trivia.
PROGRAM:
Today’s program Erin Dubin from the Deerfield Free Store. The Deerfield Free Store started in 2021 at Holy Cross Church. They now occupy the first floor of the church school. They started with Afghan refugees and now serve an entire refugee community from 20 countries. Their mission is to provide necessities to recent immigrants. Different cultures use different items. They serve 10 families per week and have helped 644 households.
They are open Sunday, Tuesday and Wednesday.
The school looks like a department store. They have clothes in one area, dishes, linens appliances, furniture and cleaning supplies in another. Families must make an appointment which lasts from 1 to 1 1/2 hours where they select the items they need. They also have a kid’s room which has toys, car seats and cribs. They are asked to volunteer when they get on their feet. The store needs coats for the coming winter months and volunteers. Refugees need dignity. Catholic Charities finds them permanent homes.
RAFFLE:
-Daily: $22 won by Tucker Olson.
-Progressive: $741 (28 cards). Rich Babjak drew the ace of diamonds. Close but no cigar!
NEXT WEEK:
-Greeter and Prayer: Bill Taranowski.
-Fun & Frolics: Elliot Pinsel.
