Sunrise Rotary Bulletin – December 18, 2019

Call to Order:

Club President Greg Hill called the meeting to order, John McDonald led the Pledge of Allegiance, and Tom Zengeler gave the prayer.  There was no song for lack of our song leader.

No guests.  Speakers included Heidi Reich Aguilar and Charles Ross of Winchester House.

Announcements:

-Next meeting is January 8th due to the holidays.

-Received a greetings card from the Libertyville Civic Center.

-Winter Fundraiser Meeting held last night.  The event begins at 6:00 p.m., March 13, 2020. The auction sheets were sent out.   Items for auction can come later but we need descriptions now. Ticket sales will be both on-line and via paper tickets.  Members are required to buy 2 tickets. If tickets are purchased on-line, there is a $3.00-$4.00 service charge for each ticket.  Theme is St. Patrick’s. Steve Risley has a wine cellar frig. for auction.  

-The Salvation Army Rotary bell ringing in Libertyville resulted in $1,249.97 collection to the SA.  There is now a credit card option for those who choose.

-Check Club Runner for member duties as the new assignments are posted.

-Lambs Farm kitchen employees were introduced and thanked the club for the gracious holiday gift.

Fun and Frolics: 

Steve Risley did a 1970s music/title and group quiz. 

Program: 

Heidi Aguilar, representing Winchester House, and Charles Ross, representing the Winchester House management company, discussed the new Winchester House Project being constructed on Route 45, next to Dover Straits Restaurant, Mundelein.  Planning for the new Winchester House has been ongoing for 4 years and should be completed in 2020. They are transitioning out of the nursing home business and into a 185 bed skilled nursing facility focused on memory and transitional care.  Cost is $38M for the state of the art facility with state certified dimensional care nurses (currently 3 star rating). The memory care section will have suites for two with private bath/shower, and staff will pair patients with people on the same level.  The transitional care section is for patients after hospitalization and generally will stay 7-21 days for recuperation before going home. This section will have a private courtyard and restaurant style dining. Other counties may send guests to the new Winchester House (in the process of being renamed) and when open will be almost 100% filled.  The facility will have the Illinois Medical/Health Board approval at opening.

Raffle:

Daily:  $26 won by Rich Mittleman.   Progressive: Not won by Pat Schwartz…rolls at 32 cards, but he did win a poinsettia.  Ron Lapins won a wreath.
