President Rich Schoeneman opened the meeting and called on Bill Rickert to do the pledge. Dave Ritland led us in prayer and Dennis Kratohwil took us out to the ball game in song.

 

BRAGS:
-Dave Potts spent last week at a dude ranch with his family.

-Bill Rickert told us about a “Service Above Self” article in The Daily Herald.

 

-Larry Neal is now a great grandpa! Both kids are moving.

 

-Tucker Olson has been married to Cheryl for 43 years.

 

ANNOUNCEMENTS:
-The website for the Fall Wine tastings is up. The tastings will be 10/2 and 10/9 at Main Street Social from 2:30 to 4:30 pm. Each event will have up to 125 participants. We have sold 40 tickets so far. We need volunteers to work the events. Tom Miller is sending out an email that can be shared on Facebook.

-We need Bulletin editors. Editors have full first Amendment rights and are exempt from the wheel.

 

-There is no morning meeting on 9/29. We will have a Feed my Starving Children packing event in the evening from 6 to 8 pm followed by a social gathering tba.

 

-John Blair is doing great and will be back soon.

 

FUN & FROLICS:
Steve Risley did a music trivia contest and Tom Stanczyk had all the answers. Misspent youth?

PROGRAM:
Today’s program was the first of three meetings where the Club distributed charitable dollars to 31 recipients. President Rich Schoeneman told everyone about the Club and the money we raise for our causes.

The first recipient was the Lake County Haven. Kaley Schultz told us that the Club has donated money to the Haven since 1997. They opened 2 new shelters in April 2020. They provide housing for homeless women and children in crisis.

Next was Pads. Eric Foote accepted for Pads a nightly shelter. They provide sleep, food and help finding the next permanent home for the homeless.

 

Our next recipient was Love, Inc. Our own Pat Schwartz, Love, Inc’s Executive Director, said they are a bridge between volunteers and people in need. They provide families with furniture, life skills and occasionally cars to the needy.

 

Megan McKenna accepted our contribution for the Boys and Girls Club of Lake County.

They are part of a national organization that help kids with support and health education.

 

They operate 4 sites in Lake County.

 

Our next recipient was the Center for Enriched Living. Jess Bonrot told us they provide social skills, recreation, life skills and jobs for the developmentally disabled.

 

Finally, Steve Risley accepted our contribution for Honor Flight. They have provided 95

flights to Washington D.C. for 8278 veterans since 2008.

 

Our total contributions were over $68,000 to 31 local charities.

 

RAFFLE:
-Daily: $28 won by Bob Zamor. He donated his winning to the Foundation.
Progressive: $854 with 25 cards. Diana Taylor drew the 2 of clubs. Rollover!
