President Tom Zengler opened the meeting, Tom Gore gave the pledge and Greeter Robin O’Connor led us in prayer. No Song! Boo Hoo!

BRAGS:

-39 years ago today Ron Lapins became a father.

-Patricia Bleck’s daughter completed her training to go out on oil rigs.

-Tom Gore’s daughter is working on an antibody drug at Eli Lilly.

-After 17 years, Scott Hezner has a tenant for the second floor in his building.

ANNOUNCEMENTS:

-The Winter Fundraiser will be virtual on 2/27/2020. Dinners will be provided by 3 local restaurants and they will be delivered by our members. 6 High school students will participate in a talent show. There will also be a silent auction. They major beneficiary will be Mother’s Trust.

-The Salvation Army bell ringing went well. Amount collected to follow.

-There will be no morning meeting on 12/23 and 12/30. We will have a Zoom holiday party at 5:30 pm on 12/23. Please advise Diana if you want to participate in a gift exchange.

FUN & FROLICS: Everyone will pay $3 except the absent Carol August who was to conduct Fun & Frolics. She was wheeled and fined $10.

PROGRAM:

Today’s program was Sucely Garcia from the Northern Illinois Food Bank. Sucely graduated from Northern Illinois University with a degree in non-profit management.

NIFB serves 13 counties surrounding Chicago and falls under the Feeding America umbrella. NIFB covers 7000 square miles and 900 pantries serving 500,000 people. Last year there were 48,000 people who were food insecure. This year it is already 78,000. This year they have provided 80.3 million meals with 11.2 million in Lake County. That is a 95% increase over last year.

Lake County has 173 member sites and agencies. NIFB provides child nutrition to children after school and during the summer consisting of 110,000 meals. Their Senior Nutrition program serves 33,000 in Lake County up from 10,000 last year. Their mobile pantries have delivered over 1.8 million meals since July. They will conduct pop up markets on 12/15 and 12/29 at CLC.

NIFB’s programs can be found at www.solvehungertoday.org. They are accepting volunteers and groups can sign up for 2 hour shifts.

RAFFLE:

Daily: $21. Rich Schoeneman won and donated it to the NIFB.

Progressive: $200 (45 cards). Jeff Harger drew the 3 of diamonds. Rollover!
