BULLETIN – February 14, 2024

Rich Babjak opened the meeting and called on Tom Zengler to give the Pledge. Tucker Olson led us in prayer on Zoom. A Club first!

 

-Jim Curtis celebrated the birth of his first grandson. 10 lb., 8oz.!

 

-The District Conference is April 20^th.

-Next week will be an evening meeting at Mickey Finn’s at 6 pm. This will be a good opportunity to bring prospective new members.

-We still need one or 2 Bulletin editors.

-The next community service project is February 22 at 6 pm at Keeping Families Covered. This will be a packing event. Please contact Patricia Bleck for details.

-Bob Zamor told us about an upcoming trip to Ak Tenamits in Guatemala May 2 – May 10^th. The cost is $1,900. See Bob for details.

-Fundraiser update from Howard Jaffe: 260 tickets left. This year seats are going from back to front. Premium seats are still available. We will have will call for tickets starting a week from Friday from 4 to 8 pm at Mickey Finn’s. We will publish a Playbill this year. The cast will be on the website shortly. Kudos to Patricia Bleck and Tom Miller for their hard work! The new system has been challenging. Preview of the auction items will begin February 23^rd. Tickets will be sold at Wine about winter event Saturday.

 

 

Glenn Garlick told us about how important the Rotary Foundation is to Rotary. He presented Bob Zamor with a Major Donor Award.

 

Today we inducted a new member; Pete Govorchin. Pete lives in Libertyville with his wife, 2 daughters and their dog. He is President of City of Hope Cancer Treatment Center in Zion. They provide cancer research and treatment. Pete is a Detroit Lions fan and has served on a number of boards including Lake County Workforce Investment Board, Josselyn Center, and Heart of the City. Welcome Pete!

 

Bob Zamor entertained with the game 2 up. 2 up comes from Australia and involves flipping 2 coins. If you guess the right combination, you remain standing. 

 

Today’s program was Patrice Maloney-Knauff. Patrice lives in Libertyville and is a member of the United Way Board. The Boards focus is on early childhood development. She is part of Women United. They engage volunteers and send hand made greeting cards to some 140 members. The sample cards she passed around looked professionally made and are sent as get well, happy birthday and well wishes for seniors.

-Progressive: $50 with 51 cards remaining. Doug Fendon drew the 3 of diamonds. ROLLOVER!
