PROGRAM:
Today’s program was a distribution to our charities who don’t have an event to sponsor. First was the Libertyville Food Pantry. They help 100 households per week. They contribute $40k annually to the Community Assistance Program. That group aims to prevent homelessness. They also thanked us for the food baskets we contribute every Thanksgiving and Christmas.
Next was the Lake County Center for Independent Living. They give people with disabilities the equipment they need to do the things they used to do. They also help with job skills training.
The Libertyville American Legion Post was formed in 1919. American Legion is the largest and oldest veterans’ organization in the country. The local post distributes flags on Memorial Day, and our contribution will allow them to purchase tables and chairs.
The next group was the Senior council of Libertyville. They provide various services to seniors, and their membership is free.
The Libertyville Stars are a swimming team at LHS. They have 39 cognitively impaired athletes on the team and 29 went downstate to compete. They have students who volunteer to help the athletes. There will be a swim meet at LHS on 2/2/2026.
Our final recipient was the Free Spirits softball team. The team was formed by Diane and Ken Chapin to provide an organization to help people with disabilities compete. Our money will be used to purchase equipment for the team.
Overall, our Club supports 46 local charities with several new added this year.
