Diana Taylor opened the meeting with a pledge and a prayer, and with an innovative approach to dealing with the music controversy Dennis Kratowhil wove a little bit of song into our prayer.

GUESTS:

This week Polly Grover, Theresa Tyranouski, and former member Dan Sugrue joined us for breakfast.

BRAGS:

Tim Klein Informed us that he has become a grandfather for the second time.

Carol August bragged about the fine work that all the organizations we contribute funds to are doing.

ANNOUNCEMENTS:

Dan Lutter is improving and is being transferred to a different facility.

Dave Potts announced that Dentistry from the Heart, an event which provides free dental care for those who need it, will be held on September 7.  He can use volunteers to work at the event, although volunteers will not be allowed to perform actual dental work unless they are properly qualified.

Bob Zamor announced that all greeter & prayer and fun & frolics assignments have been posted on the website through the end of the year.

FUN AND FROLICS:

Peggy Freese had everyone hold up fingers, and depending on whether anyone at your table held up the right number of fingers, you paid $1 or $2 in fines.  Not terribly exciting, but in Peggy’s defense she was told to keep it short to allow more time for the program.

PROGRAM:

Our program was a discussion of the North Shore Wine Beer Cigar and Food Festival which our club is hosting this Saturday, August 25 on Church Street in Downtown Libertyville.  The VIP session for upscale wine drinkers will begin at 2:30 in the afternoon, and the general admission will be from 4:30 to 8:30.  Wine can be purchased at the event and will be available for pick up on September 17.

Our website is working well for selling tickets electronically, and while sells are a bit low so far, we traditionally sell a major portion of the tickets in the last three days.  We have made improvements to both our check in and check out procedures, so they should go quicker this year than in the past.

If you run into anyone with a complaint at the event please direct them to the help desk which we will have fully staffed or to Tucker Olson, the man who solves all problems.

RAFFLE:

This week Jon Robb won the regular drawing for $33.00.  However, Bill Rickert despite a valiant effort (and rumor has it hours of practice in advance) only managed to draw the six of hearts from the cards and failed to win the $498.00 progressive pot.

NEXT WEEK:

There is no morning meeting next week.  We will have an evening meeting next Wednesday at Steve Risley’s house. Please follow instructions in the emails he has sent out on the subject.

QUOTE FOR THE DAY:
