President Pinsel presided this week, and we opened our meeting with a pledge and a prayer.

 

Kimberly Smith, who plans to be with us regularly as the new designated attended for Condell Advocate Healthcare, joined us for breakfast this week.

 

Rick Mittelman is back from having traveled to both Florida and Phoenix and will be babysitting for his granddaughter for the next several days.

 

Eliot bragged about Christian Stevens, the Eagle Scout candidate who spoke at our meeting last week, and who made such an impression with his project that several of our members spontaneously made donations to the venture.

 

Seb Karasu thanked everyone in the club who had been asking about her and her family after the earthquake in Turkey.   She says she does not know anyone personally who was affected.

 

ANNOUNCEMENTS:

Bob Zamor encouraged members with worthy projects to apply for district grants, which are a valuable resource which we should not be letting go to waste.

 

Patricia Bleck informed us that a membership campaign will be starting soon.

 

Eliot Pinsel reminded us that the club still does not have a president elect, whom we need to move up to president next year.

 

Tucker Olson forgot he had fun and frolics this week, and in trying to adlib, he provided a vivid illustration of why it is always a good idea to prepare, when you are responsible for fun and frolics.

 

Howard Jaffe updated the club on the upcoming fundraiser on March 11.  

 

We have sold a third of the tickets so far, which Howard is told is good for an event this large this far in advance.   We also have nine restaurant partners so far, which is an excellent result, because that is the number we are shooting for.  

 

It looks like we have failed to have secured a presenting sponsor, and Howard says the lesson he has learned from this is that if we want to land a sponsor this big in future years, we need to start looking for one a lot sooner.

 

So in summary it looks like the event is shaping up to be a success, but we need to keep selling tickets and obtaining more silent auction items.     

 

This Wednesday after last week’s big win, we had $26 in both the weekly and the progressive pot, which made it hard to choose which one to go for.  Being the savvy financial planner he is though Rick Babjak took the sure cash when his card was pulled first.  Jim Curtis then pulled the Queen of Hearts out of 54 card, allowing the big money to start to build.
