Call to Order:  Club President Greg Hill called the meeting to order, Bob Zamor led the Pledge of Allegiance, and Seb Karasu gave the prayer.  No song. 

 

Guests:  Kevin Stevens, Assistant Governor Nominee; Suzanne (Sam) Martinez, incoming Assistant District Governor; Bate Blair, brother and guest of John Blair.

 

-Steve Risley played golf @ Ageless Aviation Dreams Golf Outing for Steerman biplane afficianados, and he participated in an Honor Flight event.

 

- Pat Schwartz has been home for a week after a fly-in fishing week in Ontario.

 

-Greg Hill talked about the upcoming Sunrise Rotary Wine, Beer, and Cigar Fest.  Planning meeting at the Pet Factory this evening ~ Need ticket sales ~ Make checks out to Libertyville Sunrise Rotary Foundation

 

New emphasis on community service projects as a result of the club survey

 

No meeting July 31^st (5^th Wednesday), Game Night at the Vernon Hills Park District on

 

Aug 1^{st  ~} Scott Hezner is looking for 1 more bocci ball game and bean bag toss.  Please advise Scott if you have one of more of these.

 

-Scott Hezner announced the American Legion Service Project to help update and maintain their facility and sent a sign-up sheet around for specific work tasks.

 

-Doug Fendon has additional Rotary shirts if desired.  Contact him for availability in your size ~ invoice will be added to your Rotary billing

Program:  Governor Nominee Kevin Stevens talked about his experience visiting other clubs in his area and mentioned our club as a model for other clubs to emulate.  He introduced Suzanne Martinez (Sam) who is the incoming Assistant District Governor and loves, loves, loves Rotary.   Kevin and Sam presented Bob Zamor and Rich Babjak with Paul Harris Fellowship Awards.  Both are multiple Paul Harris fellows and we have 25 members who have become fellows.   Kevin talked about the greater role of Rotary beyond the club, and the Rotary International Mission and impact throughout the world, especially the Polio Eradication Project that has immunized 2.5 billion people.  He encouraged members to become annual givers to the Foundation.  A $1,000 pledge is about only $83.33 a month.  Kevin talked about the 6 areas of focus and 5 avenues of service of Rotary (more info on the website).  He also encouraged everyone to participate in the event for military veterans at Miller Park, Milwaukee for the Brewers/Cubs game on September 7, 2019.
